How to Grow Your Investigative Site: A Guide to Operating and Expanding a Successful Clinical Research Center
Published in Paperback by CenterWatch, Inc. (01 March, 2002)
Average review score:

great bookI am re-posting a review, I don't know what happened to the one I already wrote. Look, this is a complete guide in every sense. It takes you from startup to finish, with information to help you sell your site when and if you want to. All the info you need to know, with no ommisions, and presented in an easy conversational style. Dr. Miskin has done this long enough to take you by the hand and show you HOW its done! By the Book.
No step is missing!I most enjoyed the "conversational" style; you are Dr. Miskin's guest and he's taking you by the hand. The wealth of experience is obvious when you see how detailed and thorough this book is. It is most comprehensive, beginning with "growing your site", "location" and then staffing, budgets, record keeping and the hopeful future sale of the site. No step is left out, this is really a blueprint or manual, if you will, for a rewarding and successful career! I gladly recommend it because there are methods and solutions that apply to many business ventures.

How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything: A Workbook
Published in Paperback by Keep It Simple Books (June, 1988)
Average review score:

not a professional, but....I am not a psychology or counseling professional, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am an artist who earns a living as a technical support rep so I value both the creative and the analytical processes. I found that this book appealed to both.
As one who is always looking for creative outlets, ways to relax, and learning tools. I own many journals including SARK's. I feel like this is SARK bigger, better, and uncut *grin*. It has been a ton of fun to fill out each page and has helped me to catch some patterns I was unaware of in the process.
Located currently in Utah, religion can be a hot topic all the time. The last thing I want is a religion introduction masquerading as a journal/workbook. This book does not harp on Buddhism or any other religion. So if you are shying away because of that, don't. I just happened to pick it up off the shelf and had no idea the background until I read about the author.
Relaxation, thought, insight, fun, creative outlet, record of you....this book is that and more. All that and its cheap too! If youre hesitating on the purchase, I can tell you its worth the money and time.

A must for every therapistAs a working counselor, I am constantly searching for therapeutic tools and this workbook is currently my favorite resource. Even though Huber explains the causes of suffering from the Buddhist perspective, you don't have to be Buddhist to appreciate the theory behind the exercises. In using the exercises, a person may cut and paste, draw, paint, color, or write their responses. By encouraging such creativity in responding, a person can express themselves in a wide variety of media, rather than just the normal verbal medium which dominates counseling. In the book, Huber truly covers many issues including relationships, self-esteem, holidays, emotional health, death and grief, and so much more. I recommend that every therapist in practice would benefit from using this book not only in their work with others, but also in working on their own issues. I return to it time and time again in order to feel centered and focused as a person and professional.

Impressionists in Winter: Effets De Neige
Published in Hardcover by Philip Wilson Pub Ltd (October, 1999)
Average review score:

Fantastique!Add this gem to your art book collection. As a screen printer, I have been increasingly seduced by the "winter palette". This wonderful volume compiles the best of the Impressionists as they, too, came to appreciate and explore the unique light, the effects of the weather, the shapes of hibernating nature, the muted hues, and the brooding melancholy of Effets de Neige.
deply, deeply movingi saw this show in san francisco, and, as an artist, i was moved to silent reverie. the works are astonishing! whoever asssembled them deserves the thanks of anyone who has known the cold, stark beauty of winter and kept its memory in their souls. the artists who captured these moments in time are unmatched in contemporary painting. simply, i thank god for their lives and work. as one who still believes in the power of beauty upon the human spirit, i walked away from this show elevated and in awe. most particularly, i was enveloped by the works of gustave caillebotte --- so little known in america; so wondrous in the realization of his vision and his time. this show is serene. and this book comes close to reflecting its essence.

The Inclusive Early Childhood Classroom: Easy Ways to Adapt Learning Centers for All Children
Published in Paperback by Gryphon House (September, 1999)
Average review score:

Outstanding resource for prechool therapists and teachersThis book is a gem--just perfect for occupational therapists, parents or anyone working with special needs preschoolers. The book is organized by various diagnoses as well as specific learning situations found in most preschools-circle time, snack, various centers, etc. The numerous classroom adaptations suggested are outstanding. I work in Head Start preschools where the teachers have limited experience and training with special needs kids. I can't tell you how helpful this book has been.
An incredibly useful tool!As a teacher in an inclusive preschool classroom and a student of special education, I found this book to be exceptionally useful. The authors provide detailed suggestions for adaptations that can be made in all the usual activities of a preschool environment, such as circle time, art, sand and water table, blocks, dramatic play, snack, and fine and gross motor centers. To make the book even more valuable, the authors discuss a number of different disabilities and suggest appropriate accommodations for each activity according to the type of disability. Autism/PDD, ADHD, Orthopedic Impairments, Developmental Delays, Visual Impairments and Motor Planning Impairments are all addressed. For the most part, the proposed adaptations are easily made and quite successful. Illustrations are provided as well, which may help guide a teacher in implementing adaptations of classroom materials and structure. The design and presentation of the book is reader-friendly and easy to follow, and the tone is one that is quite sensitive to the needs of children with special needs.

Inspiring Call Center Performance

Average review score:

Perfect for call center managementIt's very motivational and also provided several strategies to help our call center perform better. We have retention and hiring issues. We also have difficulty with consistency in our center. This book gave our supervisors great ideas! The consistent theme we all agreed after listening to this book was "People Matter"!
Great training for our managers and trainers! Our company always looks for ongoing training materials for our call center management team. This audio book is exactly what we were looking for. It is divided into chapters, and we conducted a team meeting about each chapter after listening. I highly recommend this audio book for anybody who supervises a call center. It is PACKED with creative ideas - we're going to listen to Inspiring Call Center Performance, and use the information to motivate our agents.

Journey to the Center of the City: Making a Difference in an Urban Neighborhood
Published in Paperback by Intervarsity Press (February, 1997)
Average review score:

Facinating story by a witty and caring author. The book is too short! You want to read more about this
family's discovery of how to make a difference in the
inner city. Makes you wonder if you could do what they are
doing .
An extraordinary example of how a family loves its neighborsThis young man and his family live the life of love the
rest of us only read about. The book sings with humor and
creative narrative. It wrenches our hearts, then sends our
hopes for these neighbors soaring. Perhaps because of this book
there will be other Randys and Tinas and Josephs and Jamesons
who are willing to journey to the center of the city and
love their neighbors.

Juan Munoz
Published in Hardcover by Dia Art Foundation (April, 2000)
Average review score:

An excellent document of an important artist's lifeSadly, Juan Munoz, the uniquely gifted artist from Spain, died far too early. His gifts as a sculptor and a draughtsman and a sage were most impressive. This catalogue which accompanies a travelling exhibition now in Los Angeles is in every way a fitting tribute to Munoz. Not only are the essays included insightful, they also heighten the excitement engendered by walking in and around and through the works of the clever and tender Munoz. No easy task this, as Munoz himself said 'much of the art is dependent on the interaction between the viewer and the pieces.' The caliber of photography is uniformly excellent with as much sensitivity to the various arrangements of Munoz' "Everyman" figurative sculptures as to the "Raincoat" drawings. When the catalogue was first published Munoz was very much alive and part of the exhibition at the Tate Modern in London. Now we have only his notes, some videos of his installations which include conversations with the artist, and this elegant catalogue to document a meaningful life and body of work. A Highly Recommended book on just about every level.
A lavish display of artJuan Munoz is not only a catalog accompanying the first major survey of Munoz's work in this country, but the most comprehensive study of his work in print. Color illustrations of all the works in the exhibition accompany essays and an interview with the late artist; all of which reveal facets of his techniques and intentions. The lavish display of his art introduces readers to the range of his abilities.

Kaplan ACT Essential Review
Published in Paperback by Kaplan (July, 1998)
Average review score:

Best ACT Review Material Available!I am a high school instructor who has worked with gifted and college-prep students for fifteen years. Preparing for the ACT is a major concern for most college-bound, high school juniors & seniors.
I have presented extensive ACT workshops to students over the years and have used numerous ACT prep and self-help books. THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER OFFERED TO STUDENTS!
The book is small, concise, and loaded with great information:
a.) Each of the 4 parts of the ACT is broken down into understandable objectives,
b.) Specific types of questions that consistently appear on every ACT are revealed,
c.) Uniquely helpful strategies are presented for each section (along with examples that appear as typcal ACT questions).
This book proves that "GOOD THINGS REALLY DO COME IN SMALL PACKAGES!"
My daughter loves this little book!Like many high school students, my daughter carries a back pack that is almost as big as she is. This little book gets more use than the bigger ACT book we bought because she carries it around with her and actually uses it. Good idea!
More than that, though, she offers practical and achievable solutions. This book speaks to everyone who wants to minimise problems and maximise profits. I recommend it highly.
